Saab announced that CAE, a leader in Canadian training technology, and Saab have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to cooperate on a training and simulation solution for Canada’s next generation submarine fleet.

Saab says that the agreement, which was signed during CANSEC 2025, “marks a significant step in Saab’s commitment to deliver a comprehensive, sovereign submarine capability for Canada, supported by Canadian industry.”

“Under the MoU, Saab and CAE will jointly explore opportunities to provide world-leading training systems and simulation technology solutions for the Canadian Patrol Submarine Project (CPSP).” Saab says that this collaboration “aims to ensure that Royal Canadian Navy submarine crews are equipped with advanced, mission-ready training capabilities to operate and maintain the next generation of submarines.”

“We are proud to partner with CAE, a global leader in training and simulation with deep roots in Canada,” said Anders Carp, Deputy CEO of Saab. “This agreement underscores our approach to building a truly Canadian submarine solution, leveraging the best of Canadian expertise alongside Saab’s more than 100 years of experience in submarine design and construction.”

“It is our strong belief that Saab’s submarine will exceed the requirements of the Royal Canadian Navy, enhancing Canada’s naval deterrence,” noted Anders Carp.

As the contractor that built Australia’s Collins Class of submarines, among others, Saab says that “With a respected heritage in building submarines capable of operating in challenging and complex environments, Saab brings proven expertise in Arctic-capable submarine technology.”
