Babcock Canada and NyRad Partner to Maximize Economic Opportunities in Canadian Patrol Submarine Project

Babcock Canada Inc. (Babcock), Canada’s trusted partner in submarine sustainment, is pleased to announce a new partnership with NyRad Inc. (NyRad), Canada’s leading consultancy in Industrial and Technological Benefits (ITB) and Value Proposition (VP) strategy.

Through this agreement, NyRad becomes Babcock’s ITB consultancy of record for the Canadian Patrol Submarine Project (CPSP). Together, the two companies will combine Babcock’s proven submarine in-service support (ISS) experience with NyRad’s deep expertise in delivering lasting economic benefits for Canada.

For over 17 years, Babcock has been the Prime Contractor for the Victoria In-Service Support Contract (VISSC), generating over $3.2 billion in GDP impact and sustaining nearly 2,500 Canadian jobs annually, more than half of which are in STEM fields. Babcock has built Canada’s only industry-led submarine sustainment capability, cultivating a trusted network of over 450 suppliers nationwide and driving $235 million in GDP impact through small and medium-sized businesses.

Through VISSC, Babcock has made over 60 ITB Investments, investing millions in small and medium-sized Canadian companies, and supporting over 30 product development projects, leading to over $400 million in economic impact through the ITB program.

NyRad brings unparalleled experience in ITB/VP strategy, management and delivery. Having supported nearly every major federal defence procurement since Value Proposition was introduced, NyRad is uniquely positioned to help Babcock align its CPSP offering with Canada’s evolving economic and industrial development objectives.

“This partnership strengthens our ability to maximize Canadian economic outcomes on CPSP,” said Tony March, CEO, Babcock Canada Inc. “With NyRad’s expertise complementing our proven record in submarine sustainment, we are building a truly sovereign Canadian solution that delivers lasting industrial and economic benefits.”

“We are proud to strengthen our longstanding relationship with Babcock,” said Leigha Cotton, Managing Partner, NyRad Inc. “CPSP is a generational program for Canada and our role is to ensure it drives meaningful impact for Canadian industry, communities, and the highly skilled marine workforce that underpins Canada’s sovereignty in submarine sustainment.”

Stephanie Batstone, Managing Partner, NyRad Inc., added: “Babcock has already demonstrated how submarine sustainment can be a national asset. Together, we will help ensure CPSP extends that legacy; delivering a robust Canadian supply chain, advancing Canadian innovation, and creating resilient economic opportunities across Canada.”

This collaboration ensures that as Canada invests in a new submarine fleet, the economic and industrial benefits tied to sustainment will be maximized – building on the strong foundation that Babcock has built through VISSC – and strengthening Canadian sovereignty, resilience and prosperity for decades to come.
