Press Release

Indigenous-led acquisition of the defence multinational strengthens Canada’s industrial base, advances Indigenous economic empowerment, and reinforces sovereign capability for the Canadian Armed Forces.

To celebrate Flowing River Capital Partners’ acquisition of Marshall Land Systems, the two companies came together at Marshall Land Systems’ 82,000 sq. ft. production facility in Moncton to mark the beginning of a new chapter under Indigenous Canadian ownership.

The acquisition represents a milestone in Indigenous economic reconciliation and establishes Marshall Land Systems as the largest Indigenous-owned defence company in Canadian history.

Indigenous Canadian ownership grows the country’s defence industrial base, contributing to sovereign capability while strengthening the national economy, building long-term prosperity in Atlantic Canada, and supporting transformative changes for Indigenous communities.

Flowing River Capital and Marshall Land Systems confirmed their clear intention for growth, creating skilled jobs, and generating long-term economic benefits as part of their broader international growth strategy. The acquisition will also open pathways for Indigenous youth and workers to pursue careers in defence, engineering, and skilled trades.

The event brought together federal, provincial, and municipal representatives, Indigenous leaders, defence stakeholders, and employees to celebrate the strategic significance of the acquisition and its importance to Canada’s defence industrial base.

Speaking at the event, representatives from both organisations emphasised that reconciliation is not symbolic, but economic and operational.

“Flowing River Capital’s ownership reflects an Indigenous approach to long-term stewardship and value creation. We are committed to deepening investment in Marshall Land Systems’ people, capacity, and capabilities—while creating lasting economic and social benefits for Indigenous communities. This is more than a business transaction; it is a long-term commitment to strengthening Canada’s sovereignty and advancing Indigenous prosperity.”

As CEO, I am excited and optimistic about this transition and the opportunities for growth as we enter this new chapter in our company’s story.”
